ACCELER8 AUTOMOTIVE EDUCATION PROGRAM WELCOMES NEW BOARD MEMBER JIM LIAW
Acceler8 – the independent non-profit Automotive Education Program founded by Law Enforcement veterans to help at-risk youth – is delighted to welcome Jim Liaw (@jimliaw) as a new Board Member who will bring a wealth of automotive, motorsport and social outreach experience as well as business acumen to the organization.
As President of the Grand Prix Association of Long Beach, Jim Liaw is a motorsport executive and co-founder of the globally recognized Formula DRIFT series, which is one of the most successful and culturally-relevant racing series on the planet.
In between FD and GPLB, Liaw spent more than four years as General Manager of the Performance Racing Industry; the motorsports trade association that produces the annual PRI Show.
With his unrivalled level of experience, Liaw brings a deep understanding of how to grow programs through content, community, and brand partnerships. His work reflects the evolution of motorsport from competition-first to audience-first business models. Jim will bring this experience and know-how to the Acceler8 program, where he’ll play a pivotal role in advising staff on how to engage more at-risk youth to participate in what can be a lifesaving career path.
Liaw will be involved in advising on new partnerships and activations to help promote the Acceler8 Automotive Education Program and raise additional funds to ensure enrolled students are able to learn life-altering skills to prepare them for the workplace.
"I’ve been a supporter of Acceler8 for many years, so assisting its efforts in a more direct capacity is especially meaningful to me. Acceler8’s commitment to introducing young people to the automotive industry and helping them discover viable career paths align closely with my own values. I’m excited to contribute to a mission that empowers future generations through education, exposure, and opportunity,” Liaw said.
GET INVOLVED
The Accelerate Education Group (Acceler8) is an independent non-profit organization supported by the Los Angeles Police Protective League. It is committed to providing substantive alternatives to crime and substance abuse that will change lives and help build future leaders in Los Angeles County.
In addition to recommending students to the program, we invite the Greater Los Angeles community and automotive enthusiasts to get involved with Acceler8. As a nonprofit organization, it is funded solely by donations and sponsorships from the community. All funds raised go directly to the Acceler8 program and help to provide each student a chance to enter the automotive industry by gaining the skills needed to advance their potential while being mentored by leaders within the community. Furthermore, Acceler8 welcomes qualified volunteers to join the program to impart their knowledge and life skills either mentoring the students or providing their expertise. Please visit acceler8education.org to learn more about the Acceler8 program, to enroll a student, volunteer for the program, or to donate.
