Acceler8 believes that all youth deserve self-supporting careers that will ensure a brighter future for themselves and their families.
We provide training and mentorship toward career pathways in the automotive industry for youth 14-24 in LA County with one of our focus being justice-impacted youth.
We bring together seasoned automotive industry and business leaders, retired and active law enforcement, and youth who are linked by a common love of automobiles.
We provide workforce development for youth to become resilient, problem-solving, and self-supporting automotive leaders of tomorrow.
3 System Approach
Career Exploration - Introducing youth through social media outlets as well as in person field trips, to careers they may not otherwise consider nor be exposed to. Career exploration helps bring students in contact with industry leaders within the automotive field and helps guide them towards the skills needed in order to turn it into a long term career opportunity.
Job Training - We provide introduction workshops to help build the general knowledge of automotive and mechanical abilities. We also offer a 16-week course that dives into the training, skills and experience needed in order to obtain a level of Basic Mechanics, with furthering the opportunity of becoming ASE certified, an industry recognized certification that leads to a variety of career opportunities. We implement soft skills into our course, to help students build on communication, teamwork, critical thinking, problem-solving, finances and interview skills.
Workforce & Employer Partnership - We work with small businesses as well as large companies well known throughout the automotive field, to provide employment opportunities, internship positions, and additional jobs that lead towards career pathways.
