The “Clash” Nascar Event

Acceler8 had an incredible adventure with Nascar at the LA Memorial Coliseum for the“Clash at the Coliseum” race. We brought more than 80 students to the race on Sunday February 5. They were drawn from several different schools and programs including the Watts Labor Community Action Committee, Van Nuys High School and students from South LA thanks to a partnership with the LAPD Community Safety Partnership.

The students and the Acceler8 team were treated to a track walk before the race. Students got to explore the entire oval track and even appeared on the jumbo screens inside the venue.

The Acceler8 group met the Stewart Haas Racing #41 driver Ryan Preece, who spoke to the group and signed several different items, even giving United Rental hats away to the students.

For most of the students, this was their first visit to a NASCAR race and they certainly enjoyed every moment of the day. The group stayed until the very end to see who won the “Clash”. During that time we also got to meet Acceler8 team member Eric Kendericks from the Minnesota Vikings, who stopped by to meet everybody.

After such a successful event, the Acceler8 team is determined to repeat this next year to benefit our LA youth and hopefully inspire more students to look for opportunities within the automotive industry.
